On November 25th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a free book launch party for my third novel, and second in a series to be set in Ishikawa prefecture, Japan, will be held at Jōmyōji temple along the Asano River in Kanazawa. Snacks and drinks will be served, and a book giveaway will also be organized. At the end of the event, I will be selling my new novel, The Heron Catchers, at a discounted price and signing copies for anyone interested.

On Friday, December 2nd, the Kinokuniya bookstore in Shibuya, Tokyo, will host me for a book-signing event for my novel Kanazawa.

At the FCCJ in Tokyo, I will discuss my novel Kanazawa, with a special focus given to the local cultural elements I incorporated into it, especially the works and biography of Kanazawa-born writer Izumi Kyōka.

Doors open at 6:00 pm, with dinner served from 6:15 pm. My presentation begins at 7:15 pm and lasts until 8:30 pm. Dinner + Presentation costs ¥4000 for non-members and ¥3000 for members of the FCCJ. Zoom attendance costs ¥550.

On Monday, April 25th, I returned to my college alma mater, Earlham College, to give a talk sponsored by the Japanese Studies department and the Institute for Education on Japan. The talk focused on my novel Kanazawa, but I also spoke about how I became a Japanese Studies major at Earlham; the life paths I took after graduating from the college; how I became a writer; and how at the age of 41 I returned to Japan to live and work. The event was held in the Lincoln Room of the Landrum Bolling Center.

On October 11th I'll grab a train down to Kyoto to give a presentation about my novel and discuss self-promotion, with a focus on organizing a reading tour. The event will be held at The Gael Irish Pub in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto.

I will be presenting on my novel to all-comers at the American Center of the US Embassy in Hanoi on July 6th at 3 p.m. It will be geared to Vietnamese speakers of English, but anyone is welcome to attend!

I have been asked to present on such topics as "American Perspectives on Contemporary Vietnam" and "Writing about Foreign Cultures," followed by an audience Q & A session.

I'll be in Montreal on June 3rd to take part in the Resonance Reading Series at the venerable Resonance Cafe.

On Friday, May 22nd, I will be reading from my novel Lotusland at Antigone Books in sunny Tucson, Arizona. Afterward you can catch me signing and selling copies.

I'll be taking part in the Flywheel Reading Series, a monthly reading event held at Pages Books on Kensington in Calgary, Alberta, on May 14th.

I'll be reading from my debut novel Lotusland, signing copies, and hanging around McQuixote's afterward to drink coffee and talk books!

I will read from my novel Lotusland and afterward take audience questions at the Faulkner County Library in Conway, Arkansas.

I will be attending Guernica Editions Spring Book Launch in Toronto, which will take place at The Supermarket beginning at 4 p.m. My debut novel Lotusland will be one of the books being launched.

I will have a book reading and signing at Coffee Proper in Lakewood, OH. Come join if you can! (I hope to bring discounted copies of my novel Lotusland to the event.)

I'll be visiting Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, for my very first book reading, followed by a Q&A session with CWRU students.
